How far can you get on the web absolutely free?

You are ready to create your own very cool web site, but there are some buts that still keep you from doing so... How to start? Where to host your site? What features to add? How to attract visitors? How to get paid for your services? And most probably ... HOW TO REMAIN FREE?

I know people that make a sport out of getting things for free, often it doesn't matter what, it doesn't matter when or how, it does matter that it is free. I'm not one of them, but with the amount of services proposed today on the Internet, most of which are free, I wonder how far can you go remaining absolutely free? Well, the best way to find it out is to try it and this will be the place where I'll do this step-by-step so that everybody interested can repeat it!
